Hendrik “Henry E.” was the sixth child of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Walvoord. He was born on June 8, 1875.

Henry E. liked music and flowers.  He kept his place in an orderly, neat fashion.  He attended the Agricultural School of the University of Wisconsin and learned butter and cheese making.  He later learned the machinist trade.

He married Johanna “Annie” Delia Lemmenes on September 21, 1899. They lived in Sheboygan for a time and then lived in Milwaukee until 1914 when the family moved to a farm in the Scott Township of Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.

Annie was the seventh of nine children born to Bernard and Jennie (Hiller) Lemmenes. She was born on March 2, 1878 in Holland Township. Annie’s youngest sister, Lydia, married Henry’s younger brother Will.

Although the two Walvoord brothers had married these two Lemmenes sisters, the families seldom had time to visit each other because the farm was full-time work and Henry and Annie could rarely make the trek to Sheboygan City to visit their siblings.

Both Henry and Annie were charter members of the First Presbyterian Church of Sheboygan organized in 1898.  Before the church was organized, there was a Sunday School in session.  Both of them were members of that Sunday School.  They both attended an Adult Bible Class in Batvia (west of Cedar Grove).  Henry’s father, attended this class the Sunday before his death.

Henry E. did not smoke, nor did he use liquor.  Annie said he like sweets.  She was an excellent cook and baker.

Henry and Annie had three children: Winfred, Jureen and Melvin.

Henry E. died at home in Batvia, Wisconsin on August 18, 1941 at the age of sixty-six.  He died of a heart attack.  His daughter Jureen preceded him in death in 1934.

Annie, later moved back to Sheboygan after his death.  Annie died in Sheboygan on May 28, 1959. Both are also buried in the Walvoord Cemetery in Cedar Grove.
